Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving everybody! I LOVE Thanksgiving for two reasons: it's the best meal of the year, and it marks the kick-off of the holiday season. This year we went to my Dad's house for the day today, where we ate, watched footbal, ate again, then watched more football.....such a good day:) So of course being the wonderful daughter I am, I ask if there is anything I should bring for the big meal, praying they so no - because if there is one thing I can NOT do, it's cook. Or bake. Or anything involving the kitchen. Just to give you an idea of my cooking/baking skill level, this is usually how my meals work out every day: I have cereal for breakfast, go out to lunch with people at work, then come home and have another bowl of cereal for dinner. I am definitely not good with the kitchen. About a month ago I decided to bake brownies (the kind right out of the box), and I thought to myself, "hmm....I believe this is the first time I'm using my oven"....and yes, I've lived in my apartment for about a year and a half now. I swear I smelled dust burning off of the oven as it was pre-heating.
One year for Thanksgiving, I decided to make a pumpkin roll from scratch. I have no clue why I thought this would be a good idea. My Grandma, who is an amazing cook, makes such a great pumpkin roll - so I figured I'd get her recipe, and I couldn't go wrong. Well I was wrong. As I rolled the pumpkin roll, the bread just fell apart, the cream was completely uneven, and it did not look nearly as pretty as Grandma's. Since it's one of my favorite desserts, I was SO happy when I saw her walking in the door with this today:
Perfection. Pure perfection.
Happy Thanksgiving!
